Description
Initial letter C is capitalized. The letter is framed within a double-lined square. The letter is white on a black background, the background is studded with white dots. The letter is curved and forms three-quarters of a complete circle, the opening being on the right side. The top of the letter hooks downwards and the bottom of the letter hooks upwards and slightly out. There are leaves, flowers, and vines behind the initial letter and spread out throughout the innermost box of the square. A foliated grotesque figure with wings is situated within the letter C, facing left. This ornament, dating back to classical times, is known as a “foliated cherub” or “foliated grotesque.”
