Headpiece
Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. The headpiece shows two identical, grotesque beasts, possibly bats or rats, at its centre. The creatures have human-like faces with pointed ears. The hands of each creature are held in front of them, just underneath their faces. A geometric pattern consisting of curved, diagonal, and rectilinear lines, with inset rectangles and triangles, extends on either side and underneath the two creatures. Some sections are filled with black ink.

Description
An account of the resource
The framed tailpiece is centred under the text. The ornament is a double-lined square. The inside of the square is divided into nine equal sections; the four corners are closed squares and the four inner ones are open on the central side, forming an inner cross. The top middle square has a face. The remaining eight sections are filled with various patterns of circles, diamonds, lines, and squares. Circles extend from the four squares in the inner corners. Hands extend out from either side of the encompassing square, each holding a stylized branch.. Feet extend from the bottom of the square, and are placed against a black ink-filled background. Wavy lines extend from the top of the square, giving the appearance of hair; these lines are also against a black background.
